But you don’t care about that, do you? You just want to know how I get such thick clouds. I will share this secret with you, my fellow vaper: an RTA.

Today, we will look at some of the best ones and find a perfect atomizer for you!

This simple model truly deserves to be called the best RTA for beginners. I mean, it couldn’t be easier: three parts and a coil, and you are good to go. Moreover, the performance is going to pleasantly surprise you, I am sure.

Now, the first thing I want to note is the way this atomizer is built. The combination of smooth threading, stainless steel, and Pyrex glass promises to be durable and reliable. This RTA is a bit larger than the previous Cleito model, which also has some benefits that you can enjoy. The e-juice capacity is bigger, and thanks to the larger bore of the drip tip, you can enjoy inhaling more vapor at once. But don’t worry: a larger bore doesn’t mean you’re going to burn your lips. The Derlin construction prevents the exceeding heat transfer, keeping your lips safe.

Rebuildable tank atomizers combine the best qualities of the popular vaping devices. In one small RTA, the customizability and the superb performance of an RDA unite with the convenience of a tank system, which is a great solution for all vaping enthusiasts

The airflow system deserves to be mentioned here as well. There are three air slots around the tank base, which you can adjust by using the control ring (which, I must admit, works really smoothly). As for the performance, the Cleito 120 didn’t disappoint me. The clouds were huge, the flavor was rich, and the inhale was warm and smooth. However, there’s one little detail I want to warn you about. To make this device do its best, you need to raise the wattage up to 100W, otherwise, the vapor doesn’t feel that rich. But be careful: when raised to 150W, the inhale becomes really warm, almost hot, so be careful not to overdo it.

Let’s look at the main pros and cons:

Pros

Easy to use

Affordable

Great performance (large clouds and rich flavor)

Large e-liquid capacity

Adjustable airflow

Well-built

Top-fill design

Cons

You will get the best results only by increasing the wattage

When raised to 150W, the inhale might get hot

Another item on our list of the best rebuildable tank atomizers is this high-end model by Rip Trippers. Belonging to the pricier category, this RTA brings all of the cool benefits with it. It is super customizable and performs excellently. What else is there to wish for?

Now, let’s start with the main thing: the construction. The manufacturer really made an effort to create something that almost any vaper will enjoy. This model features the interchangeable deck design, which means you can use either a 1-coil or a 2-coil deck, whichever works best for you. The tank capacity is also customizable. If 2 ml is not enough for you, just switch the Pyrex glass tank to the larger 5 ml tank, which, by the way, comes with the kit. You can see now what you’re paying for, right?

As for the performance, it didn’t disappoint me either. The RTA produces excellent flavor and huge clouds (despite this model being a mini version). With the characteristics like that, I feel like it is suitable for almost any vaping style.

Let’s see the key pros and cons:

Pros

Very well-built

Super customizable

Excellent performance

Durable and reliable

Interchangeable deck design

Super easy to build and fill

Cons

Might be too pricey for some users

The airflow is decent but rather restricted

  • Diameter: 25 mm

  • Rebuildable and swappable deck design
  • Top-fill system
  • PEEK insulated
  • Direct to coil airflow control
  • Stainless steel and Pyrex glass construction

This model deserves to be among the best rebuildable tank atomizers for a number of reasons. It is well-built, allows for a large e-liquid capacity, and produces the richest and deepest flavor.

Here’s the deal:

This model is called XL, so you’ve probably already guessed that it’s going to feel big and sturdy in your hand. Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it. Plus, this size is supplemented with great construction. The stainless steel body and the glass tank look reliable and have a very solid feel. The e-juice tank is also quite large, which will allow you to enjoy your favorite flavors longer.

The idea of building your own coils may scare or at least confuse you at first. But building is actually simple, plus you get to save some money on buying the pre-made coils. So, think of it this way: just a little bit of research and practice, and you will be able to take your vaping experience to a whole new level

Another interesting feature of this atomizer is the airflow cooling system. It is designed in the form of a fan system, which is placed directly below the atomizer. Such construction allows the airflow to be directed straight onto the coil (or coils, depending on your preferences), resulting in excellent flavor and smooth operation.

Good airflow is one of the most important features while vaping, so explore our squonk RDAs review to learn even more.

And don’t get me started on the flavor… It was stunning. However, I could enjoy it the most only after raising the wattage to at least 120W. Just a heads-up for you.

Now, the main pros and cons:

Pros

Sturdy and well-built

Large e-juice tank

Amazing flavor

Huge clouds

Easy to build

Top-fill system

Great finish

Cons

The flavor is excellent when the wattage is raised to 120W (at least)

Might start heating up above 120W

Best Cheap RTA

Sigelei Moonshot RTA

Sigelei Moonshot RTA
  • Height: 42.5 mm
  • Diameter: 22 mm / 24 mm, depending on the tank capacity
  • E-juice capacity: 2 ml / 3 ml
  • Top-fill system
  • Stainless steel and glass construction
  • Adjustable bottom airflow
  • Domical chamber
  • 510 drip tip compatible
  • PEEK insulator on the build deck
  • Two-post design
Check the Price

Don’t let this atomizer’s price fool you. It deserves to be among the best RTAs for a reason. Actually, a couple of reasons. It creates a lot of vapor, provides great flavor, and features very convenient and reliable construction suitable for almost any vaping style.

The first thing you should know about this model is that it comes in two options: the 2 ml and 3 ml tank capacity. Depending on the tank size, the diameter of the atomizer can also be either 22 or 24 mm. This allows for a more versatile use, depending on your personal preferences. I realize that the e-juice capacity might be not enough for some users, but at least the tank is super easy to fill.

What I’ve noticed about this atomizer is how powerful it is. When paired with a high-quality mod, you can experiment with the wattage up to 220W. And it gets better:

The airflow system is very effective and cools the device down in no time. The clouds turn out to be huge, and the flavor gets better with every new inhale and exhale.

Before buying your first RTA, do some research. For instance, you need to know that some tanks have adjustable airflow, while other models feature fixed air slots. The fixed construction is suitable for the mouth to lung use. However, adjustable air slots don’t necessarily serve for both direct lung inhales and mouth to lung usage. So, make sure you study the matter and all characteristics before making a purchase

Here are some pros and cons for your consideration:

Pros

Well-built construction

Easy to fill

Great airflow, which is also adjustable

Great performance with huge clouds and rich flavor

Very affordable

Cons

Not suitable for beginners since it is a bit tricky to build properly

The juice capacity might be insufficient for some users

May allow leakage if not wicked properly

Another item on our list of the best rebuildable tank atomizers is this model by Joyetech.

Here’s the kicker:

For a reasonable price, you get all in one: an RDA, a 4.5-ml sub-ohm, a 2-ml sub-ohm, and an RTA. But let’s concentrate on the RTA, shall we?

The atomizer, no matter what type, is the most important detail of any vaping device. It is what transforms the e-juice into thick and flavorful clouds. Therefore, picking the best RTA is quite an important task

It features the velocity-style design and the two-post construction, which makes this atomizer super easy to build on. You can choose between the dual- or the single-coil options and adjust the device to your liking. One thing to keep in mind, though: if you prefer using larger coils, this RTA might be not suitable for you, as it accommodates standard coils and builds better.

Now, the performance is what you should be looking forward to when buying this RTA. If your goal is cloud chasing and you want the thickest vapor, this model is certainly for you. I didn’t even have to raise the wattage to the maximum to get the largest clouds. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

We think that a “true” cloud chaser might be interested in this RDTA guide as well.

Let’s look at the key pros and cons:

Pros

Great construction

An all-in-one deal

Easy to build on

Large e-juice capacity

Excellent performance and huge thick clouds

Good airflow

Easy to fill

Cons

Might not work for larger coils

The seams might be too tight for the first couple of uses

Best RTA Overall

UD Goblin Mini V3

UD Goblin Mini V3

  • Diameter: 22 mm
  • E-juice capacity: 2 ml (compatible with the 4 ml tank, sold separately)
  • 510 thread
  • Stainless steel and Pyrex glass construction
  • Velocity-style two-post deck
  • Bottom airflow with condensation resistance
  • Top-fill design

Despite its compact size, this atomizer deserves to be among the best RTAs. It features very reliable construction and performs great, which allows it to contest even with the larger models and produce thick flavorful vapor.

To tell you the truth, I was a bit skeptical about this small device at first. However, it managed to impress me. The deck design allows for both single- and dual-coil build, which is an excellent feature in terms of customization. The building process is also fairly easy. What surprised me is the fact that the deck is able to accommodate even larger coils. For instance, I decided to test the 3 mm coils and didn’t experience any troubles fitting them in.

The filling process couldn’t be easier thanks to the top-fill design. What might catch your attention is the juice flow control. It’s not a very advanced system, but it works really well with preventing leakage (which used to be a serious issue for the manufacturer). The juice flow control works with the help of tank rotation. It might seem too simple for some vapers, but it still works effectively.

Now, check out the main pros and cons:

Pros

Well-built

Easy to build and fill

Can accommodate larger coils

Great vapor and flavor

Doesn’t allow e-juice leakage

Super compact and functional

Single- and dual-coil build designs

Affordable

Cons

The e-juice tank might be too small for some users (but there’s a 4 ml option sold separately)

The juice flow control system makes the construction a bit wiggly

  • E-liquid capacity: 2 ml / 4.5 ml (the larger tank I included in the kit)
  • Adjustable airflow ring
  • 510 contact pin
  • Single-coil build design
  • Top-fill system with the removable twist-off cap
  • Dual-post deck
Check the Price

The first time I saw this RTA by Vandy Vape, I felt like it looked very promising. And my intuition didn’t let me down: this small device turned out to be one of the best I’ve tried so far. It features rather sturdy construction, adjustable airflow, and two switchable e-juice tanks that are different in their size and capacity.

This small device is very easy to work with. It supports only single-coil builds, which might be not enough for some users, especially the more experienced ones, but makes it super simple to build on it. Plus, the atomizer’s performance is on top even with the single-coil build system.

What deserves to be mentioned is the airflow system. While being rather simple, it is still effective. You can customize and control the airflow by simply rotating the airflow ring, which gives you 5 different air slot sizes and air control options. The slot is rather small, keep that in mind. I got the best vapor when the slot was fully open, which makes me feel like this atomizer lacks another airflow hole. However, just one might be enough for some users. It really depends on your personal preferences.

Let’s look at the major pros and cons:

Pros

Well-built

Two tank options

Top-fill system

Adjustable airflow

Great flavor and thick vapor

Lockable chimney

Cons

One airflow slot might be not enough for some users

Accommodates only the single-coil build system

Advken Manta RTA

Advken Manta RTA
  • Height: 46 mm
  • Diameter: 24 mm
  • E-juice capacity: 3.5 ml / 5 ml
  • Compatible with the majority of 810 drip tips
  • Top-fill system
  • Stainless steel and glass construction
  • Adjustable airflow
  • Dual-coil design
  • Removable wide bore drip tip
Check the Price

Another item that deserves to be among the top-rated RTAs is this model by Advken. You might be wondering why users love this model so much, and the answer is simple: it can boast of its quality, construction, and overall performance.

The first thing you should know is that this atomizer comes with two different tanks: the bubble-shaped 5 ml tank and the standard 3 ml one, which allows for customizability. Keep in mind that this RTA is suitable for almost any 810 drip tip, while 510 tips are not compatible with this model. This fact doesn’t ruin the atomizer’s performance but might disappoint some users.

The airflow deserves a word or two as well. The three-slot bottom airflow system is adjustable, allowing you to open and close the slots to your liking, ranging from 3 open slots to all of them closed completely. The supplementary central airflow slot delivers the air directly to the coils, allowing for quick and efficient cooling.

Here are the pros and cons for you to consider:

Pros

Great construction

Easy to build on

2 tanks

Great flavor and large clouds

Top-fill design

Sturdy construction

Cons

Doesn’t support the 510 drip tips

Wicking might require some practice since the leaks can occur when done wrong

RTA vs. RDA: What’s the Difference?

I will explain it simply:

An RDA (rebuildable dripping atomizer) allows you to drip the e-juice directly on the wick, while an RTA (rebuildable tank atomizer) features a tank (usually a glass one) to actually hold the e-liquid.

Now, the construction of these two devices differs too, but the dissimilarities are rather subtle. Let’s start with the RTA. It includes:

  • a drip tip (also serves as the mouthpiece);
  • a cap (if an atomizer features a top-fill system, which is actually the most popular design on the market these days);
  • a chimney (might be a part of the tank section);
  • a glass tube (which holds the e-liquid);
  • a chamber (it features special slots that allow the e-juice to drip onto the wick);
  • a deck and a base (which include the wick, the coils, and the airflow slots).

The RDA’s construction includes the following:

  • a drip tip;
  • a cap (in the majority of cases, it is neither removable nor flippable, although some models don’t fall under this rule);
  • posts (that hold the coils);
  • a deck;
  • an e-juice well (usually can hold a rather small amount of juice);
  • a coil and a wick.

How do you choose between the two? Well, it depends on what you’re expecting from your atomizer. Both RDAs and RTAs might allow some leakage. However, with an RTA, you won’t have to refill the device too often, while an RDA will require you to constantly drip the e-liquid and carry the bottle with you. As for the performance, RDAs are famous for providing the deepest flavors, although RTAs do their job well too.

What makes an RTA stand out among other vaping solutions is the fact that it allows users to not only wrap the coils any way they want but also insert the wick on their own, allowing for more customization options and improved vaping experience overall

Don’t Leave Your Shopping Cart Empty

So, you’ve decided to buy your own rebuildable tank atomizer. You think you’re good to go?

Sorry to disappoint you, but there are some other things you will require:

  • a resistance wire;
  • wicking material (the most common option is cotton, which usually comes either in balls or in sheets and can be used either way);
  • tweezers (to squeeze the coils; give your preference to the ceramic-tipped ones);
  • small pliers or nail clippers (to cut the resistance wire and trim the coils);
  • scissors (for cutting the cotton or any other wicking material you choose);
  • a coil jig or a small screwdriver (to wrap the coils);
  • an Ohmmeter (to check the resistance of the coils).

I don’t mean to scare you away, but there’s some knowledge you have to possess in order to work with your atomizer. You need to be familiar with coil building, learn how to create wicks of the proper thickness, know how to handle electricity, and know the Ohm’s law to determine the suitable power levels for proper resistance. If you are an advanced user, you’ll have no problem with all these requirements. Am I right?

Let’s Get to Building: Tips and Tricks

Here’s the deal:

I understand that you already have some experience behind your back. So, I’m not going to lecture you about what you should and shouldn’t do. However, let me give you a few pieces of advice. Just in case.

When actually building your RTA, you might want to:

  • Thoroughly clean your atomizer first. I mean, really thoroughly. Don’t cheat.
  • Organize your workspace and prepare your instruments. Since the building process is rather meticulous, you don’t want to get distracted by trying to find the suitable tool somewhere in the house.
  • When wrapping the coils, consider how much building space you have. The experts don’t recommend using coils thicker than 2.5 mm.
  • Be super careful when screwing the tank back onto the base, as this is when the leakage is possible.
  • Always mind e-liquid levels. You don’t want that dry, awful-tasting inhale, do you?

The Verdict

I don’t know about you, but I love trying new things. So, when testing out these rebuildable tank atomizers, I allowed myself to have some fun. The only thing that could ruin my mood was if one of them managed to disappoint me (which didn’t happen, obviously).

Now, do you want to know which one impressed me the most? The one that I will definitely keep using? I will tell you:

It was the Goblin Mini V3 by UD. Despite its minor flaws, the overall performance, construction, and value for money were more than simply satisfactory. I enjoyed the flavor with every inhale and exhale. The vapor was thick. The clouds were huge. The building process wasn’t challenging. I can continue this list, but you get the picture, don’t you? Just give it a try, and you will see for yourself.

    I’m using Goblin mini rta. Overall everything is great. Perfect buy for the money. If you like vaping direct to lung or mouth to lung this is it. The minor cons would be that the tank itself is a bit small and might leak sometimes when overfilled.
