The first item on our list of the best RDTAs is this model by IJOY, which is a perfect option for any vaper whose goal is cloud chasing. It is sturdy, packs a ton of nice features, and can create the incredibly large amounts of vapor.

The first thing about this RDTA that managed to impress me is the fact that it features the interchangeable building deck. The manufacturer offers 7 different deck options, which allow for almost limitless customizability. You can experiment with versatile build styles, wires, and other details in order to get exactly what you want from your device.

Another cool thing about this device is how well it is built. It looks and feels sturdy but doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable when actually vaping. The tank is huge and (I admit) might seem a bit bulky to some users, but it can hold larger amounts of the e-liquid, thus allowing you to enjoy your vape longer. This model features the side filling system, which is quite comfortable. However, if you are used to the top-fill system, re-juicing this model might feel a bit awkward at first. Don’t worry, you will get used to it very soon.

Consider the main pros and cons:

Pros

Enormous clouds

Well-built

Interchangeable deck

Large e-juice tank

Great performance overall

Allows for customizability

Single-coil option

Cons

Might seem bulky to some users

May allow occasional leakage

The side-fill system might feel awkward at first

This contestant for the right to be called the best rebuildable dripping tank atomizer belongs to the more affordable category. But its reasonable price doesn’t determine its performance. This RDTA is simply good. It allows for customizability and produces large flavorful clouds.

Now, this is not a luxurious model, so don’t expect all those bells and whistles. What you can expect, though, is dense vapor, even at moderate wattage. The building process is fairly easy thanks to the deck design, which is raised and velocity-styled. It can accommodate larger coils if you are a fan of those. The fill system offers two different options, so you can choose which one suits you more. You can take the top cap off and drip the e-juice onto the wick and coils as you would do with your RDA. Or, as an alternative, you can take the vent cap off and refill the well in a common RDTA style.

One thing to keep in mind:

As you have probably guessed from the picture, the tank isn’t a glass one. This means you won’t see the amount of the e-liquid you currently have. I guess this is the price of this model is so affordable.

In the majority of cases, vaping and coil building are inseparable. So, at some point, you will have to learn how to build your own coils properly. This is a great way to improve your device’s performance and learn something new yourself, thus becoming a more experienced vaper

Let’s take a look at the main pros and cons:

Pros

Short and compact

Well-built

Good airflow

Large deck and post holes, suitable even for larger coils

Easy to build on

Great flavor and clouds

Versatile filling system

Cons

Can’t see the e-juice level in the well, which might make the refilling process a bit challenging

No single-coil option

This model by Augvape really deserves its place among the top-rated RDTAs. It is super easy to build on thanks to its huge deck, which makes it suitable even for people who sometimes struggle with small details and tiny instruments. The top-fill system is very handy too and won’t cause you any troubles. And the overall performance is simply great.

What really surprised me is that this RDTA doesn’t allow the e-juice to leak. I mean, I even tested it upside down when the tank was half empty. And speaking about the e-liquid, the top filling system is probably one of the best features of this model. All you have to do is take the cap off and drip some juice into the hole. That’s it.

The airflow works pretty well too. It is adjustable and features the bottom and the central slots. It works smoothly and can help users customize their atomizer’s performance. I enjoyed the best clouds with the air slots being half-open. The flavor was good too, especially when I raised the wattage a bit. Learn more why airflow matters in this review.

Now, look at the major pros and cons:

Pros

Easy to build and wick

Excellent design

Doesn’t allow e-juice leakage

Large deck

Good airflow

Super easy to fill

Huge clouds and good flavor

Cons

The flavor could be better

No single-coil option

Another contestant for the right to be called the best rebuildable dripping tank atomizer is this little cool device by Sigelei. It is rather affordable, well-built, and shows a very decent performance despite not belonging to a more expensive category.

The first thing you will notice about this RDTA is its design. It comes with different O rings in various colors, plus this model features the LED light, which flashes the color on whatever ring you decide to use. This feature is not a necessity since we, the meticulous vapers, concentrate more on the material quality and performance. However, the LED lighting might catch some user’s eye and be a cool little addition to the device.

Now, let’s move on to more important details. The velocity-style deck can accommodate different coils (including larger ones) and is super easy to build on. The airflow is adjustable, so you will be able to regulate the amount of vapor. Speaking of vapor, it won’t disappoint you. The airflow works smoothly, the clouds turn out to be large and thick, and the flavor is really good. If you want a dense fog around you, this RDTA is right for you.

Let’s consider the key pros and cons:

Pros

Well-built

Great thick vapor

Good flavor

Easy to build

Smooth airflow

Large e-juice tank

Cons

The LED light isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so it might annoy some users

The side-fill system might seem awkward to some vapers

No single-coil option

Want to know why this model belongs to the top-rated RDTAs?

I will tell you:

It looks stylish, offers versatility in use and refilling, and simply does its job well. Moreover, the price is rather affordable, so you won’t have to spend a fortune to get thick clouds and deep flavor.

Now, what I particularly like about this model is its appearance. Maybe it’s just me, but I like how sharp and “clean” it looks. The construction is also satisfying: the clamps are super easy to work with and four wicking holes promise rich flavor. This model is also relatively leak-free (perhaps, a drop or two might get spilled, but that’s it).

Dripping tank atomizers are rather new models on the vaping market. That’s why finding the best one might be challenging due to the lack of information

Another particular feature of this atomizer is the dual-fill system. You can choose between dripping the e-juice through the side hole or through the top, whichever is more convenient for you. The airflow system is adjustable and directs the air straight onto the coils. The holes are rather wide, which is perfect for vaping on higher wattage. It took me some time to find a perfect balance between the wick length and the coil wraps, so be prepared to experiment a little bit in order to get the best results.

Look at the most important pros and cons:

Pros

Hybrid deck

Great airflow

Easy to build on

Great flavor

Sleek design

Two fill options

Large e-juice tank

Cons

No 510 adapter

Might take some time to learn how to wick it properly

Best RDTA for Flavor

GeekVape Avocado RDTA

GeekVape Avocado RDTA
  • Height: 43 mm

  • E-juice capacity: 5 ml
  • Genesis structure and large velocity style deck
  • Single- and dual-coil options
  • Replaceable drip tip
  • 510 thread

Another contestant for the right to be called the best RDTA is this model by GeekVape. It is reasonably priced and can offer you the richest flavor. Seriously, this is the most “delicious” RDTA I’ve tried so far, and I’m sure it won’t disappoint your taste buds either.

What I want to mention about this model is how well-built it is. The deck features the velocity-style design, plus two dual-post and four large slots. This construction can accommodate various coil structures and numerous possible build types. You can use a single-coil or a dual-coil system, whichever you prefer. The deck is also suitable for some larger coils, just make sure you wick them properly.

Now, the airflow system is what helps this little device keep the flavor quality on top. The bottom airflow features two slots, which are quite wide and can be adjusted according to your preferences. You can leave one slot closed and the other one open, but keep in mind that you won’t be able to shut the airflow down completely. There is always one small opening remaining, which might cause some leakage.

A little trick: if your coils don’t heat up evenly, scratch the outside of the coils with a little screwdriver. Then fire them up, and you are good to go. They will be heating up evenly after that. This little trick works every time

Here are the major pros and cons to consider:

Pros

Nice design

Easy to build

Single- and dual-coil options

Excellent flavor

Thick vapor

Great airflow (adjustable)

Great value for money

Large e-juice tank

Cons

The air slots never close completely and may cause some e-juice leakage

The 510 drip tip is not included

Best RDTA for Beginners

SMOK Skyhook RDTA

SMOK Skyhook RDTA
  • Height: 60 mm
  • Diameter: 24.5 mm
  • E-liquid capacity: 5 ml
  • 510 thread
  • Floating velocity post
  • Adjustable airflow
  • Side-fill system
  • Dual- and single-coil build available
Check the Price

The name “SMOK” is quite famous on the vaping market, and there’s a reason behind their popularity. And this next item on our list of the best rebuildable dripping tank atomizers follows all of the best SMOK’s traditions. It is super easy to build, features reliable construction, and produces great vapor. What else is there to wish for?

The majority of RDTA tanks can accommodate 3 ml of e-juice. However, there are models that feature 4 and even 6 ml tanks. With an atomizer like that, you won’t have to refill it every five minutes and will be able to enjoy vaping for longer periods of time

Now, what makes this RDTA perfect for beginners is its construction. There’s nothing too advanced or special about it, so, if you’re a beginner, you will easily figure out how to build on it. There are two floating velocity posts, which are quite large in their diameter and won’t cause you any troubles when working with them. You can use either a single- or a dual-coil system, depending on your personal preferences. You might also apply some larger coils, which can be easily accommodated by the deck, no need to worry about that.

What impressed me about this model is the airflow technology. There are both side and bottom airflow systems, which you can use together at the same time or individually. This allows for more customization options. Moreover, this will help you find a perfect adjustment for the thickest and most flavorful vapor.

Check out the main pros and cons:

Pros

Very easy to build on, suitable for beginners

Excellent airflow

Thick vapor

Good flavor

Large tank

Reliable construction

Countless coil options

Reasonably priced

Comes with a ton of accessories

Cons

Might allow some leakage if not wicked properly

  • Side-fill system
  • Direct bottom draw airflow system
  • 4-hole velocity style deck

Another contestant for the right to be called the best RDTA is this model by VGOD. How did it make it on our list, you might ask? The answer is simple: it is made of high-quality materials, performs great, and simply doesn’t make the users regret their purchase.

The first thing I want to draw your attention to is the building process with this atomizer. Spoiler alert: it is super easy. The deck is quite roomy and can accommodate a bit larger coils. You won’t have to struggle when trying to fit them. The screws also work well and feel reliable without being too tight. The manufacturer states that you can use either a dual-coil or a single-coil one. However, because the airflow is not adjustable, it might be challenging to get the perfect vapor with just one coil and the “pre-set” unchangeable airflow setup.

As for performance, this is the part that really managed to surprise me. If you are a fan of cloud chasing, you are going to love this atomizer. If you appreciate the good flavor and want to feel even the individual notes in the scent, you are going to love this dripping tank atomizer and enjoy every inhale and exhale. Trust me: with this little device, the flavor is rich, deep, and distinct. And the clouds are huge!

Now, let’s see the main pros and cons:

Pros

Compact

Easy to build on

Excellent flavor

Huge clouds

Large e-juice tank

No leaking

Well-built

Bottom airflow system

Spacious deck

Cons

The airflow is not adjustable

No adapter for the 510 drip tips

Understanding the Matter: What Is a Rebuildable Dripping Tank Atomizer?

Trust me, all these abbreviations used to drive me crazy at first. I can’t imagine how a newbie feels when stumbling upon an online vape store with all those mods, RTAs, RDAs, RDTAs, and so on.

If you are feeling a bit confused and want to prepare yourself before going shopping and diving into all those terms and abbreviations, you should first learn what an RDTA really is.

A rebuildable dripping tank atomizer combines the best features of an RTA and an RDA. It works rather simply: the wicks need to be saturated in an e-liquid and deliver it to the coils, allowing for an excellent flavor and super thick clouds. There’s also a tank that serves to hold the e-juice, which means you won’t have to constantly drip the liquid like you would with an RDA.

Interesting fact:

The rebuildable dripping tank atomizers that we know today haven’t always featured such construction. When they first appeared on the market, their design was a bit more complicated. They used to have an additional pump that could be operated by pushing down the drip tip. This allowed users to actually control the flow and the amount of the e-juice, which was moving from the tank onto the coils and the wicks. Thus, with every drip tip push, a user released a certain amount of the e-liquid.

However, this system was not flawless. It was too complicated and caused the overall atomizer’s construction to be less reliable. It’s a good thing we don’t have it anymore, right?

Building Tips, Tricks, and Pieces of Advice

I know, I know, this is not your first time. However, one person can’t know everything. So, perhaps one of these tips might help you one day:

  • Too thick is always better than too thin. When using an extremely thin coil, its upper part will heat up faster than its bottom section, leading to the heating imbalance. As a result, the bottom section will become too saturated, and the top part will stay dry. Obviously, this can ruin your vaping experience completely.
  • An extremely thick coil might lead to those nasty dry inhales since there’s no air space for the liquid to be absorbed properly.
  • The proper width and length of your wick will fully depend on your RDTA’s height and diameter. So, try practicing a bit more in order to achieve the perfect build for the perfect vapor.
  • To determine the perfect thickness of your wick, check if you can move it easily. If it doesn’t slide when you pull it from end to end, this means your wick is too thick. However, if you can maneuver it without making an effort, the thickness is correct.
A rebuildable dripping tank atomizer is the golden middle between an RTA and an RDA. It is a combination of an RTA’s tank and convenience with a great vapor quality and flavor of an RDA
  • If you want your wick to absorb the e-juice effectively, try fluffing it up when pulling it through the coil.
  • Keep in mind that wicking requires practice and time, so try to be patient and work hard on your wicking skills.
  • Don’t be cheap. Use enough wicking and don’t let it be too thin. The atomizer’s performance will worsen because of that.
  • Don’t build your coils too low or too high. Take your time and find that golden middle.
  • Twisting your coils will help you increase the surface area without allowing the resistance to drop too much. This also improves the flavor depth and the overall quality of your vapor.
  • Keep in mind that dual coils create more vapor than a single-coil system.

Other Things to Consider

When buying your rebuildable dripping tank atomizer, you should always keep in mind that you will need more than that. And I’m not talking about the mod or your favorite e-juice. I am talking about the additional supplies:

  • a resistance wire (it can be made of stainless steel, nichrome, kanthal, nickel, and so on);
  • pure cotton (or any other wicking material that you prefer; cotton is simply the most common one);
  • flush cutters (they need to be small in order to cut your wires in a small, limited space);
  • a small screwdriver or a special coiling tool;
  • tweezers (try to give your preference to the ceramic tipped ones, which will serve to pinch your coils);
  • scissors (preferably small, to trim your wicking material);
  • a coil jig (this one is not necessary but can come in very handy and make the whole coil building process much easier);
  • an Ohm reader (to measure resistance levels).

The Verdict

I don’t know about you, but every time I see a new vaping device appear on the market, I immediately feel this urge to buy it, test it, and turn it into another “my precious” collection piece. So, when the RDTAs started emerging, I couldn’t stop myself from, well, spending half of my salary.

However, it turned into something nice, since I’ve found numerous great models. And the one that made me the happiest was the Avocado RDTA by GeekVape. Yes, it might leak a drop or two, but man, the flavor is just incredible. The clouds are also great, thick and large. And it gets better:

This little device is very customizable. You can use one coil, you can use two, and you can adjust the airflow.

To me, all of these features make one excellent atomizer that can drastically improve your vaping experience.

And how do you like RDTA’s? Is it the best of 2 worlds of RDA and RTA? Or it’s something completely different? Let me know in a comment section below.

Thanks to the review my eye stopped on the Merlin RDTA by augvape. It has an excellent build, experienced no leaks so far.I personally love it in black and gold colors. The juice capacity was not that I expected for 3,5 ml but it doesn’t spoil the overall vaping experience.

Wow. Solid 5 stars goes to Vgod trick tank. This is the second rdta in my arsenal. Really amazed by the clouds and amazing flavor. Have been using it for 2 weeks, no serious issues, might leak sometimes tho when I lay it down. other than that no major issues.

I’ve been craving for a better and unique product as this. I battled with minor leakages in some other Rdta,
I must commend the vapour quality. What exactly do you mean by “too thick is better than too thin”?

I think I like this new vaping experience so far. I hope leakages will not occur later, because that has been my biggest threat.

I just bought a new RDTA for cloud chasing, it’s customizable nature makes it suitable for me.

I tried fluffing it up when pulling it through the coil, the e-juice absorption by the wick isn’t very effective, maybe I’ll have to do that properly. It’s nice.

Permit me to say I am a passionate cloud chaser. Ijoy Combo has got the features i like but the diameter is quite below my specification and the design is slightly closer to my taste.

Can you recommend another one with these features i just requested.
